He will meet with officials in Czech Republic, Slovenia, Austria, and Poland.
On Tuesday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo begins a tour through Central Europe. In their respective nations, Secretary Pompeo will meet with Foreign Minister Petricek and Prime Minister Babis of the Czech Republic, President Pahor and Prime Minister Jansa of Slovenia, Foreign Minister Schallenberg and Chancellor Kurz of Austria, and Prime Minister Morawiecki and Foreign Minister Czaputowicz of Poland.
This trip comes as the United States begins repositioning troops outside of Germany. The Pentagon announced an agreement last week with Warsaw to deploy 1,000 additional troops to Poland in rotations. They will join the 4,500 American soldiers already in rotations deployments in that country.
While in Austria, the U.S. secretary of state will also meet with International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Grossi. The IAEA is an international organization seeking to promote the peaceful use of nuclear energy, and to inhibit its use for any military purpose, including nuclear weapons.
Secretary Pompeo said, “It will be a very important and productive trip.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For safety for Secretary Pompeo as he travels.
- For the secretary’s diplomatic efforts to be blessed by God.
- For strengthened ties with U.S. allies.
